I am not a runner! I was teased in school for my lack of running ability and running day made me dread class. I however have a goal! To run two miles regularly before Nathan comes back from Army training (somewhere around June of 2011) I have been building up endurance and walking then running then back to running. It is amazing what you find yourself capable of with the proper motivation. Fear of being left behind when Nathan comes back from boot camp and the knowledge that running really revs your metabolism have been the push I needed to commit to learning to run. It is amazing what the right motivation can do for you but before your gut reacts to this question really think about what your fire is. Your motavation needs to be a picture of something that realy gets your passion running. Then nothing can stop you.

Till tomorrow. Yours truly in health!

It has occurred to me lately that God gave us an appetite. He wants us to appreciate food so he gave us an appetite and food that would replenish, nourish and fill us up. And just as it is our choice to follow him or not, it is our choice the foods we eat. If we choose wrong we are left empty, unsatisfied and craving something more. I have made stir fry many times before, in fact it is one of my favorites. However it was made with plenty or meat, sugar and enough noodle to start my own factory. I am now learning what healthy means. God gave us vegetable to fill us and help us satisfy our hunger. Don’t get me wrong I am not saying never eat noodles again but when you are counting calories head towards green.  Broccoli is 30 calories for a cup where a cup of wheat noodles is 200 calories and you might get a cup. Broccoli is also more filling than the noodles so you feel full longer. God never planed for us to be hungry, unsatisfied and depressed. He gave us all the plants we could ever hope for with a wide array of tastes. Everything from Zucchini to Asparagus to Spinach.  Dieting doesn’t have to be a chore. The first few weeks are the hardest as you let your tastes change and your old habit die. I want to share with you  a little story about how far I have come in two weeks.
Saturday was July 3rd and not wanting to get fireworks on the 4th and deal with lines we drove to a firework tent. In this parking lot is a Carls Jr, Subway, Cold Stone Creamery and a Pizza Schmitzza. I say the pizza shop and my gut said “Ohhh I want pizza.” Then my brain engaged and I thought no I don’t why did I even start that thought? It is like when you touch something colder than you were expecting and you say “Ouch!”. But it didn’t hurt it was just your gut response.  We have conditioned ourselves so our gut says eat than but we really want something else. The trick is to remember God gave you a gift in food and we shouldn’t abuse it. As always yours in health!

After a day of heavy exercise yesterday my body is sore. Some days seem difficult to work in exercise. Working in a call center makes it difficult to get in the amount of steps you need. I have started walking in place while I wash my hands and get things off the printer. As I stare at the treadmill and feel the ache in my legs I have to see my future to continue on today. Let me take you with me in my future, my goal that keeps me going when I don’t feel like it or want to fall into the “I am not worth it” trap. Close your eyes.

The wind blows through your hair. The open road beacons a drive just because you can and it makes you happy. You look great. Purple leather riding jacket with matching chaps snugly fit showing off a well-toned body. Your helmet matches your gear and proclaims your victory of losing over 80 pounds. You swing your leg over a purple motorcycle and as the engine rumbles though your bones the exhilaration hits as it has every other time you ride. You can feel the sun warming your face into your helmet and your ears are full of the powerful vehicle. You smell of the freshly cut grass from the lawn. You pull out and head towards the coast your new bikini in the storage compartment. It’s a great day!

Now you know what I think of when my ankles burn, my legs hurt and the only thing I want to do is watch TV Keep positive and focused. What keeps you going? Please feel free to share and comment.

If you know me at all you probably know I think in terms of stories and oddities. I am pretty random but at least it can be entertaining. We are now on the second day of the High-Antioxidant diet and the thing is hunger hasn’t been an issue. There are so many proteins and fiber in this program, I think of them as Super Heroes in the town of my body. Just imagine beefy strong Protein Man beating up the Hunger Monster and the sidekick Fiber Boy cleaning up afterwards. Many other shake products are out there and most have sugar as the first ingredient. However sugar breaks down quickly, makes your blood sugar spike. In other words the Hunger Monster kicks the snot out of wimpy Sugar Guy. Surely you know what I am talking about. Sugar Guy gets a swirly and we are ready to eat the wallpaper all faster than you can say knock out.
